DIY Drop Cloth Curtains

I was planning on having a nice relaxing Sunday of lounging around & watching football/eating chili, but that's not how I roll! I got this idea to DIY some new curtains for our dining room. We had some linen curtains in here that matched the ones in the living room. I really needed another pair for our living room, but I haven't been able to find them so I moved the ones from the dining room to the living room. I needed new curtains for our dining room so I decided to try out some drop cloth ones.
This was such a simple DIY & I think this project took less than 30 minutes to complete! Best part is there is no sewing involved! I picked up 2 drop cloths at Home Depot. These are the ones that I used, here. Online it says they are discontinued, but I was able to pick them up in the store. I also did not get the 2 pack, the store only sold them individually. I also bought 2 packs of these clip rings in oil rubbed bronze to attach the drop cloths to the curtain rods. It is more like a black rather than oil rubbed bronze, but they worked perfectly & matched our existing curtain rods.
The drop cloths are 6 ft x 9 ft. I laid out the drop cloth & decided which end I wanted at the top & bottom. I chose the 9 ft for the length & 6 ft for the width of the curtains. I folded down the top about 13.5" inches so that they would lay & puddle nicely on the floor. You could fold it down any length you want, depending on how long you want your curtains to be. Next, I placed the clip rings every 12 inches on the folded part of the drop cloth. It worked perfectly so that there was a clip on each end of the drop cloth.
Then came the "tricky" part, if you want to call it that! I needed John Paul to help me hang them up because our windows are pretty long so he hung one end while I hung the other. To put the clip rings on the curtain rods, I folded the drop cloths one way & then the next way repeating until all the clip rings were strung onto the rods. It sounds a little confusing, but it makes the curtains lay nicely once they are hung up. I did the opposite direction for the other side so that it was a continuous pattern across the top of the curtains.
The drop cloths are extremely wrinkly. I could have thrown them in the dryer to get out some of the wrinkles, but I will most likely just steam them if the bigger wrinkles don't come out. I honestly don't mind the wrinkles as it makes it look more worn & vintage.
Since they are canvas, they will block out a lot of light. I can also push them completely to the edge of the windows so that all the light shines right on in!
I absolutely love the charm & character these DIY drop cloth curtains add to our dining room.
