Summer Front Porch: Part 1

With Memorial Day being last week, we really got to work on making our yard summer ready! We added some new mulch, new stones, new plants/flowers, & cleaned up the yard. This also included getting the porch summer ready! I have been working on this porch for a few months now, but wasn't ready to share the full look until now!

Front Porch

Our porch is pretty big so I wanted to kind of divide it up & give us different options for relaxing out here. I came up with having a dining side & lounging side.

Centerpiece

First I'll share the dining side. I had an old table that I covered with a canvas drop cloth. You can find these at Home Depot or Walmart. I tied it to the legs with some thick rope. I found some old chairs at an antique store. They are all mis-matched, but have similar features (color, style, wooden, etc). I added some cute little terra cotta pots filled with lilacs from our back deck. I chalk painted 3 of them to give them an antiqued look. I kept it very simple for a centerpiece because summertime living to me is simple & easy! For some fun texture, I hung apple baskets from the ceiling of the porch using hooks & thick rope. The apple baskets were found at an antique store. They add some great dimension to the space. I strung up some battery operated lights to add some ambiance at night. I moved the jute rug we had inside in our living room to the porch. Our little pup had some accidents when we first brought him home & although I was able to clean them pretty well, they were much more easily disguised being outside. I love this rug & really did not want to get rid of it so I found the perfect solution!

Our dining side of the porch is so perfect for dining al fresco now! We love grilling out back & then enjoying dinner out here. We can watch the sunset from the porch & just relax. It is the most serene setting!

I will share the living room/lounging side soon, but wanted to give a glimpse into what we have been up to over here at Aratari at HOME!

What do you think of our porch? Do you crave simplicity for summertime too?

Thank you for stopping by the blog today!
